Nike Joan Benoit-Samuelson Center
OBJECTIVE:
Connect Joanie’s story and the Future of Sport with the re-imagining of this foodservice space in the heart of the Nike campus.
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS:
Layered approach: Overlapping layers an intersecting shapes, are a visual representation of the beauty and complexity of what it takes to be a distance runner.
Joanie’s story: JBS is much more than a one dimensional person. Who she is goes far beyond her achievements/contributions to competitive running. Joanie is an advocate, a grandmother, a gardener and a maker.
Nike: Nike’s contribution to sport goes far beyond product innovation; it is truly multi dimensional. Nike has developed social platforms that foster community and break down barriers. Nike exemplifies equality as they continue to redefine what it means to be an athlete. “If you have a body, you are an athlete.” –Bill Bowerman
